Hair Loss Remedy : Hair Loss 101: Understanding The Cause by Jamie Bollig
Understanding the causes of hair loss and slowed hair growth is your first line of defense in preventing or treating the condition. While it is a well known fact that there are some diseases that cause hair loss, most do not realize that there are a number of other hair loss triggers.
So what causes hair loss? Let's start by looking at hormones. The level of testosterone in the body has a direct impact on whether or not an individual will lose his hair; therefore, men as early as age twenty are more likely to go bald than women. This does not exempt women from baldness due to testosterone levels, but only lessens the chances.
Hair loss can occur in both men and women and there are a number of common causes to keep in mind. While it is most commonly studied in men, the bodies of both sexes contain certain levels of testosterone and hair loss occurs when testosterone levels are off balance.
The chemicals found in shampoos, conditioners, lotions, hairsprays, and dyes are incredibly harsh and will lead to dry, brittle, and unhealthy hair. Excessive use of these products may lead to irreparable hair damage and eventually to baldness and slowed hair growth. There are dozens of gentle and natural hair care alternatives availble to replace your current products.
Take a look at your family history. You may be prone to baldness if there is a pattern in the history on your mother's side of the family. Unfortunately, your family history can not help you to determine when or how severe your own hair loss may be. Fortunately, the knowledge you gain by reviewing your family history of hair loss will give you the tools you need in order to choose the best possible preventative measures.
Excessive and harsh hair care products and regimes are also considered to be major contributing factors when it comes to hair loss in both men and women. The chemicals found in hair care products and the excessive heat of blow-drying are very drying to hair strands. These factors alone may cause hair loss.
Those with physical illnesses that contribute towards hair loss are at a disadvantage. Not only might their illness cause hair loss, but the stress associated with their illnesses might make the hair loss even worse. Seek treatment for stress, whether it is emotional or triggered by other causes. Doing so will enable you to control your hair loss.
Any of the above noted conditions will be made worse if you already have a family history of baldness. Use care in choosing hair care products that are gentle and be sure to use them only when necessary. Find a hair care product specially formulated for preventing or slowing the rate of hair loss. Doing so will enable you to fight hair loss.
